Responses to the Twenty-One Most Commonly Used Arguments to Confound the Issue

What is the population myth?

E.6 What is the population myth? The idea that population growth is the key cause of ecological problems is extremely commonplace. Even radical green groups like Earth First! promoted it. It is, however, a gross distortion of the truth. Capitalism is the main cause of both overpopulation and the ecological crisis.

Solutions to the Overpopulation Problem  by Erin West Some demographers believe that there is an overpopulation problem, but critics argue that the problem is only a figment of their imaginations. The truth is there is a problem and to stop it we must work together, lower the infant mortality rate, and use forms of birth control worldwide.

The issue is whether we will consume, pollute and populate ourselves into crisis.
